Alpen's 25-year experience in the high-performance
glass and window industry documents the wisdom of aluminum-clad wood
sash and frame designs with: a) wide glazing pockets accommodating super
insulating glass, b) stout aluminum extrusions, c) baked-on "Kynar"
painted finishes, and d) strong, precision hardware. Alpen's
wood window and door line, representing a partnership with Canadian
Gienow Window (Gienow.com), meets each of these design
objectives. Overall Alpen Wood Window "NFRC" U-Values,
indicating the weighted average of sash, frame, glass and edge-of-glass
thermal conductivity, are untouchable by any competitor.
Alpen Wood Window sizes are either standard (see
gienow.com/p_c_c_s.asp for casements) or custom at a reasonable
premium. Clad colors are white, cashmere, beige, slate grey,
brown, redwood, mist blue, ivy, hunter green, black or
custom. Wood is select, stain-grade Western Pine (or finger
jointed at a discount for painting). Hardware options cover a
wide range of colors, architectural designs and metallic surface
finishes.
Alpen Wood Windows cover the full spectrum of
casement, double-hung, awning, picture, bow, bay, sliding-glass and
French-door design options. Monumental Great Room
picture windows can extend to 78" x 144" in rectangular, trapezoid and
archtop shapes.
